【国際交流】「海外研修」大きな成果をもって無事に帰国できました

星短生5名はオーストラリア・シドニー近郊の街、ゴスフォードにあるSt Joseph's Catholic College（SJCC）で1週間の研修を実施しました。日本語の授業に参加して、中学生と高校生に日本語を教えながら先生の自宅でホームステイを経験しました。
SJCCの生徒や教職員の皆さんが親切な笑顔で腕を広げて歓迎くださったおかげで、学生たちは伸び伸びと活動し、暮らすことができました。
星短生たちには本当に素晴らしい滞在となり、大きな成果があったことを日々の学生の日記から報告します。

From 15 to 26 February 2024, five students from Kanazawa Seiryo University Women’s Junior College (“Seitan”) participated in a week-long intercultural exchange program at St Joseph's Catholic College (SJCC) in Gosford, near Sydney, Australia. They joined Japanese language classes and taught Japanese to middle and high school students, and experienced homestays with teachers from SJCC. Thanks to the warm welcome and kind smiles from the students and staff at SJCC, the students were able to engage in various activities and enjoy a very comfortable stay. Seitan students report from their daily diaries that their stay was truly wonderful and a great success.

ホームステイ初日、ホストファミリーの皆さんが優しくて温かく接しやすかったです。
英語が分からなくても話せなくても伝える努力をすることが大事だと分かりました。オープンに心を開く所がすごく尊敬できました。
On the first day of the stay, the host family was kind and welcoming. I learned that it's important to make an effort to communicate even if you don't understand or can't speak English well. I greatly admired their openness and willingness to connect.

2日目はすごく楽しかったです。ホストシスターが私を友達に紹介してくれて仲良くなり、友達が増えました。みんなが私に興味を持ってくれて感動しました。
新しい発見が多く、ワクワクが止まりませんでした。
The second day was really enjoyable. The host sister introduced me to her friends, and I made new friends. I was touched by everyone's interest in me. There were many new discoveries, and I couldn't contain my excitement.
2日目はすごく楽しかったです。ホストシスターが私を友達に紹介してくれて仲良くなり、友達が増えました。みんなが私に興味を持ってくれて感動しました。

3日目はバディとたくさん話をしました。授業中も気を遣ってくれて、一緒に問題を解いたりしました。
プレゼンテーションでは今日の目標「ちゃんと理解できているか」をみんなに聞くことができました。積極的にみんなに話しかけることができたと思います。
On the third day, I had a lot of conversations with my buddy. She was so kind even during class, and we worked on tasks together. During my presentation, I was able to ask everyone if they understood the content, and I actively engaged with everyone.
3日目はバディとたくさん話をしました。授業中も気を遣ってくれて、一緒に問題を解いたりしました。
プレゼンテーションでは今日の目標「ちゃんと理解できているか」をみんなに聞くことができました。積極的にみんなに話しかけることができたと思います。

4回のプレゼンテーションで分かったことは，生徒たちからの反応といった双方向のキャッチボールがあってこそ成功するのだということです。
そうすることで、生徒も先生も楽しく授業できることを知り、指導側の立場に立ってみて先生の大変さがわかりました。
What I have learned from the four presentations is that success is only possible when there is interactive engagement between the presenter and audience. This way, both students and teachers can enjoy the class. I also realized how difficult it is for teachers when they are in the position of teaching.
